Julian loves food, cooking, and experimenting in the kitchen. Pre-Covid, Julian had enjoyed participating in a few in-person cooking classes with Sprouts and The Sweet and Savory Classroom. Currently, Julian is enrolled in a weekly on-line vegan and vegetarian meal class with a chef in St. Louis. The meals he learns on Mondays will usually be the same meals he is offering for Friday dinners. But, he does speckle in occasional classes with other chefs on-line to learn dishes that are of interest to him (did someone say sushi rolls!). Nothing is off-limits to him. And if he doesn't like something, he'll give it an infinite number of tries, just in case his taste buds have changed since the last time.
Julian often talks about wanting to own a restaurant or cafe. We tried to set up a bake sale in the front yard a few times, but it was a lot of work for a very uncertain result. We hope this approach results in less stress and a more efficient use of all our time and resources. For the time being, we are only allowing him to start by cooking for neighbors we know. We also try to be trash-conscious, so don't be surprised if you wind up will real dishes that need to be returned!
